A Morning walk with a Helios lens
Early this morning, my small cocker spaniel and I headed deep into the woods on trails seldom travelled – she jumped and squirmed through the briers while they scratched me and pulled at my clothes. I had been given an old camera yesterday by a close friend and had managed to attach the helios lens to my EOS M with an M42 adapter. I set the aperture to wide open and with manual focus only and bright sunlight on the camera display getting a sharp image was tough, not to mention the soft breeze making the subject matter dance in the frame, this added a new layer of complexity to framing – but after a while, I started to enjoy the new rhythm, the tools we use to shape the images we make for good or bad – the thing I’m learning is to just go with the flow.
